After receiving a cashmere blanket as a gift, Greg Chait was inspired to enter the cashmere niche market with emphasis on hand spun yarn techniques he had seen in 2007. After almost immediately selling out his first few blankets at Maxfield in Los Angeles, Chait was asked to keep creating. In 2012 he was awarded Vogue's CFDA Fashion Fund Award to support his endeavors with The Elder Statesman. To this day, Chait believes that taking extra time and effort into a product are variables that are unable to fail. Making each garment of exceptional quality to last a lifetime.
